Valuation Factors for a Domain Name

There are few technical factors that determine the value of domain name. If you have already booked a domain name any way. Otherwise follow the guidelines and read factors that help to determine before book a domain.

TLD (Top Level Domain) - This is the extension that appears at the end of any domain name e.g. http://www.sureshchowhan.com, in the example .com is the TLD (top level domain). There are various type of TLDs are available like .com, .net, .info, org, .co.uk, com.au, .co.in, .in etc. Some of the TLD are country specific like .co.uk for UK country, .co.in for India, .com.au for Australia and so on.

Country specific TLDs help much better than others to get top rankings in specific search engines, like Google.co.uk, Google.co.in, Yahoo.co.uk, MSN.co.uk etc. But one the most common and equivalent of other extensions such as .net, .info, org, is in practice very much. If you going to take this extension for your domain, there is no any harm but only profit for you domain name. But if you want to target only a specific country you should be aware for your country TLD (extension). Here is list of TLDs.

Domain name should contain a limited number of words, be sure no misspellings or abbreviations. If you are able to get a single word domain name, you are lucky otherwise, try to use only two or three words for your valuable domain name. Avoid misspellings, abbreviations, hyphens, characters, and numbers because it decreases the value of domain names. Beware to words (name) that are trademarked.

Optimization of the website for both major search engines Google and Yahoo is challenge of SEOs. Both search engines have different algorithm to show the search result for search term. If a website would have better ranking in Google Search, while not in Yahoo. Its reason that a few of the techniques appreciated by Google, while some other techniques Yahoo like.

I’m doing optimization for the sites and experience that each search engines have different algorithm to provide search results for a search term and different evaluation factors to rank top website for a search term. Now I realize some important factors and want to share with you all. Some of the best techniques for both search engines are described below. What are those let see.

Google weighs the Title tag most, should be meaning full sentence to attract the visitors based on keywords. Put your keywords in description tag but should not be dense more than 2%-3% otherwise pages will remove from the search index or will degrade in rankings. Sometimes keyword tag ignore by Google, it does not much weighs to this tag. Google says “Content is King” therefore web pages which have more content appreciated and gives priority to be top ranked, but you much be sure content should be fresh and new, must not be copied from other cached web pages. Google gives importance to only relevant anchor text inbounds links. It measures the value of inbound link quality after that quantity. Other factor is their Google PR of inbound links. If you have more links from high PR pages, then you will have better search engine ranking for particular keyword or search term.

Yahoo gives importance to that pages which are keyword based URLs and weighs the website address as an important ranking factor if it includes keywords. Yahoo weighs the pages which have Title tag, Description META tag and Keywords META tag with keywords density, Yahoo looks for sites with keyword densities as high as 6%- 8%, put content on pages make keyword dense but sure not should be more than 8%. Try to get a no. of links whatever they have PR or not, more links top ranking is the trend of Yahoo Search. If you have these types of pages you can have better search placement in Yahoo Search Engine.

Using of heading tags like H1, and H2 are important for both search engines. These tags not only help for closeness of keywords but also help to make betters visibility to highlights your words and slogans.

Site Map makes it easy for search engines to spider website and accesses all of your most important web pages. Site maps should be accessible from your home page and kept up-to-date. Google supports and recommend to use xml sitemap (named sitemap.xml) and Yahoo supports and recommend also xml sitemap (but named ror.xml), should be available at root directory of your website.

As we know, the web is available in Hindi language for reading and writing in both manner. As the Hindi Language become so popular and increasing Hindi web users, Google.com, supported Hindi language in its services, like search results and Hindi search engine also. Now Google Adsense is available in Hind language. It may be start some few days or month ago, but I got a snap of ad today, here is the snap below.

Website Trend and Competitor Analysis

After enjoying Google Trends, now get benefit of another excellent tool offered by Google, is Google Trends for Website. Yes, as it name suggest it works and produce results. You are able to getting trends of competitor websites and their performance overview by using this tool. It produce approximate results (but according to me exact info) offers to us.

It is very easy to use, there is need not any training and expertise before using this tool. Visit http://trends.google.com/websites, currently it report result of wikipedia.org by default. Put your site URL or your competitors URLs (use comma to separate) in search box then click on Search Trend button it will produce graphical report about the website trends. Generally it generate reports based on their own search database. For example see the below image:

In graph you will find daily unique visitor of each website, presented with respective different colors. This report includes some other results like Country wise search of the website, other related website search and search terms also. By using this report you may conclude that what is the performance of our website compare than other websites or competitors.
