Evan Prodromou is the founder of StatusNet and the creator of the StatusNet software. There is fine example of this open source is Identi.ca well know a microblogging service It runs the StatusNet microblogging software, version 0.9.0rc1, available under the GNU Affero General Public License. It is absolutely free to download.
It seems to be hosted paid or free company-specific micro-blogging installations will become huge sources of Business Intelligence data and that happens through interoperable, Open Source software.
